Mine’s 20 Inches big!

Filed under: General — Taylor @ 10:21 pm

My iMac that is, yeah this week I final sucumed and bought an iMac one of the 20 inch models. I was lucky when I went to the shop as I managed to bag myself a recent ex-display model, one with ta 256 meg graphics card and a 320 gig hard drive for a sprightly £799.

So far I’m loving the machine, especially the apple keyboard its a nice brushed metal version instead of the older plastic ones. It’s a dream to type on as the keys seem to provide just the right amount of feedback for me, I’ve been struggling to find a nice keyboard for a while now - I think my search is over. I just need to buy another few keyboards because I only have the one.

The machine itself is a dual boot machine, running Leopard and Vista Ultimate (Which I purchased the other day - my first ever non-student edition purchase of a Windows Operating System) which makes for a very nice system.

As I type this blog I’m busy setting up this copy of OSX, installing those little things I can’t live without like TextMate and Fetch. Thankfully my old .Mac account has taken care of many of my settings - its copied what my MacBook was set too so I didn’t have to spend several hours fiddling with my doc again to get it set up right. The next thing on my list to set up is MAMP so that I can get back to setting up my local copy of TFMS, BFMS and Theseus. Once that is done I’ll really kick myself back in to coding once again.

One thing I do need to do is replace my MacBook’s power supply, whilst its not as powerful as this iMac its perfectly suited to my on the road coding needs.

Damn!

£65 for a new power supply! I feel butt hurt.

Anyway, I need to get back to setting this machine up - more soon.

  1. Why is it that everyone starts picking up Macs as soon as I sell mine? Huh!?

  2. I had one all the time. Now all I need to do is find my Leopard disks so I can rebuild the Macbook. Stupidly I cleared it and then realised I can’t install Mac OS X from the iMac restore CD’s!
